How do poets in the Age of Modernism respond to the political realities of their present moment? A cognitive analysis of ”Leda and the Swan' W. B. Yeats.

Burbling mountain streams and nightingale's songs are often the only sounds to fill in the air in a region that poets have waxed lyrical over. The Troodos 

is symbolic to the constant warfare that the soldiers endure daily. Likewise, allusion in the poems “Leda and the Swan“ by W. B. Yeats, “Out, Out---” by Robert Frost, and “Siren Song“ by Margaret Atwood reveals the historical conflicts that occurred within Greek mythology and World War I. Leda and the swan is a daring sonnet by Irish poet William Butler Yates that retells the story from Greek mythology of Leda,s impregnation by the god Zeus in the form of a swan. Yates wrote this sonnet at the height of his career in 1928; the same year he won the Nobel Prize for literature. Leda and the Swan, a poem by W B Yeats W B Yeats’s poem “Leda and the Swan” was published in his 1928 collection “The Tower”, although the poem itself is dated 1923, the year in which he won the Nobel Prize for Literature. Combining psychological realism with a mystic vision, the poem describes the rape of Leda, in which Zeus came to Leda in the form of a swan. The poem's graphic imagery leaves no doubt that Zeus, in the form of a swan, violently assaults Leda. At the same time, however, the poem seems to revel in
